Editorial Structure: The Narrative Architecture

Chronological Division

The project covers six major periods:

1. Antiquity (3000 BCE - 476 CE)

2. Middle Ages (476 - 1492)

3. Renaissance and Early Modern Period (1492 - 1789)

4. Industrial Revolution (1789 - 1945)

5. Digital Era (1945 - 2000)

6. Contemporary Artificial Intelligence (2000 - present)

Narrative Structure: The Three-Movement Model

Each article follows a three-part architecture:

Movement 1: Past (Historical Context)

- Setting the scene of the era

- Introducing the actors

- Describing the innovation

Movement 2: Present (Current Resonance)

- Connection to contemporary AI

- Legacy of the innovation

- Questions raised today

Movement 3: Beyond (Perspectives)

- Possible extensions

- Open questions

- Invitation to reflection

Extended Metaphors: Anchoring the Abstract

Principle: Each article develops an extended metaphor that runs through all three movements.

Example: To explain Hero of Alexandria's automata, the metaphor of the "mechanical theater" helps convey the notion of sequential programming without using anachronistic vocabulary.

Objective: Make complex technical concepts memorable.
